2 September 2010, Austria.  The IACA opened its doors on Thursday 2 September, and is offering a number of courses. It is a joint venture between a number of entities including the UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime), OLAF (European Anti-Fraud Office).

This Academy aims at providing training professionals involved in the combatting of corruption (such as lawyers, judges and law enforcement officers) in the interpretation and application of the UNCAC (United Nations Convention Against Corruption).

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is quoted on the IACA website as referring to corruption in the following terms:

"Corruption is one of the biggest impediments to the world's efforts to reach the Millennium Development Goals. Corruption steals elections. It undermines the rule of law. It can jeopardize security. And the vulnerable suffer first and worst.'
